Tenova Pyromet specializes in Submerged Arc Furnace design and technology for furnace projects that ensures continuous operation and technical feedback.
This further increases Tenova Pyromet’s leading edge technology and depth of experience by fulfill our passion for continuous improvement and providing the best available practice to customers.
The raw materials, operating philosophy and smelter layout of these projects are unique for each customer.
Therefore, each project provides the opportunity for the Tenova Pyromet design, project and process engineers to interact with the customer to design a smelter which combines the best available practice with the customer’s particular raw materials, operating philosophy and site layout.
The following are some examples of Tenova Pyromet’s furnace technology.

The furnace roof design options and technology are:
- A closed or semi-closed roof is selected based on the process, raw materials and environmental requirements.
- The semi-closed roof can have a fixed opening, lifting or rotating doors for stoking.
- Seamless pipe fabrication to provide the perfect cooling water flow channel to ensure a robust and durable roof.
- Plate and baffle which provides a cost effective solution with proven durability.
- Additional copper cooling in the roof refractory castable in areas of high heat load.
- Hanging brick roof design to reduce heat loss and ensure safety in a process where total prevention of water leaks into the furnace is required.
