At the beginning of the year Safal Group, a leading supplier of metal coated Roofing in Africa, has  chosen Tenova Hypertherm as the furnace supplier for their two new strip processing lines to be set up in Tanzania and South Africa. Now these two furnaces, installed in Dar-es-Salam and KwaZulu-Natal (Durban) plants respectively, are in an advanced phase of construction.

As part of a project to re-commission and update the Crocodile River Mine smelter, Tenova Pyromet has been appointed to study the re-commissioning of two 3,7 MW furnaces originally installed by Tenova Pyromet for PGM conc smelting, at the Crocodile River Mine site close to Brits.

Tenova HYL has completed the licensing agreement and work is now underway for the second ENERGIRON direct reduction plant at the new General Holding Corporation (GHC) facility in Abu Dhabi, UAE.  GHC is currently building a new steelmaking complex that will produce 1.4 million tonnes/year of long products.

At the end of May 2008, Tenova Pyromet was commissioned by Doe Run, Peru to design and supply a 15 meter slag launder, comprising water-cooled copper launder sections, which will convey matte and slag from the ISASMELT™ furnace to the settling furnace.

Tenova Pyromet has been selected by Norilsk Nickel for the upgrade of two of their nickel slag cleaning furnaces located on the Far North behind 69 parallel northerly Siberia.
