
The KT Injection system is a wall-mounted, multi-point system for injecting oxygen and a wide range of fines of carbon, lime, DRI and other.
Thanks to the patented Ultra Safe Cooling System the injectors can be safely submerged into the slag above the steel level. This greatly increases the injection efficiency compared to the other commercial injection systems.
KT lances and Injectors can be installed in the slag line above the level of the steel bath, through the refractory lining or in the upper shell. The copper body of the KT Block Lances can stand the direct impact of the scrap falling during the furnace loading.
The Ultra Safe Cooling System ensures unrivalled operation safety, while the high modularity of the whole KT system guarantees an easy and cost-efficient maintenance.
KT oxygen lances, working as a burner during the melting of the scrap and as a supersonic injector during refining, can guarantee outstanding energy transmission efficiency of the bath.
Combined with the KT Carbon and Lime powder injectors, the lances are used to create an omogeneous layer of foamy slag on the whole bath surface. This further increases energy efficiency and refractory lining lifetime by shielding it from the arc radiation.
The KT burner-postcombustor, installed in the upper shell, is a highly specialized tool to recover chemical energy from the uncombusted off-gases as well as a powerful burner to accelerate the scrap melting in the first phases of the process.
The KT system automation is designed to optimize the system start-up and to assist the process specialists in the optimization of the process itself .
KT carbon injectors can be used for:
- Lime injection: to increase the yield of lime through injection directly into the slag
- DRI fines injection: to effectively utilize DRI fines in the furnace
- Ladle & tundish slag and refractory recycling: to reduce the overall environmental impact
