Operating under the motto, "Furnaces and Services for Metals", the LOI Italimpianti is the leading global supplier of reheating and heat treatment plants for the steel, aluminium and automobile industries. The group’s technological market leadership is undisputed and is backed by hundreds of reference plants.
With a workforce of 700 and 10 companies in Europe, China, India (through Hypertherm and LOI Wesman), USA and other countries, LOI Italimpianti is present on all the world’s key markets.
LOI Italimpianti’s activities are grouped together in four main business areas: Hot Formed Materials, Steel Strip, Automotive and Aluminium. For the steel industry, the LOI Italimpianti Group supplies a wide range of furnaces. These include reheating furnaces for the production of hot-rolled materials, heat treatment lines for heavy-gauge steel plate, HPH (high-performance hydrogen) bell-type annealing plants and continuous heat treatment lines for steel strip and special steels as well as bell-type and continuous furnace plants for wire coils, bars and pipes. LOI Italimpianti is also active in the fields of heat treatment plants for transmission, engine and other parts for vehicle production and semi-finished non-ferrous metal parts, continuous casting and heat treatment plants for light alloys, especially aluminium alloys, and enamelling and batch galvanizing lines. All the plants in the LOI Italimpianti range are supplied complete with control systems developed in-house
Hot Formed Material: LOI Italimpianti products for hot formed materials comprises Reheating Furnaces for blooms, slabs and billets, Roller-Hearth Furnaces and a variety of other furnaces and quenching facilities for hot rolling and forging plants.
Reheating and Thin Slab Technology
During its long activity in reheat furnaces LOI Italimpianti has installed some of the largest furnaces for slabs, blooms and thin slab technology.
We have provided the longest Roller Hearth Furnace (315 m) designed for endless rolling, the largest Walking Beam Furnace (600 t/h hot slabs), and the largest Rotary Hearth Furnace (52 m diameter) for blooms reheating.
Heat Treatment and Quenching of Heavy Plates
Depending on the capacity required, LOI Italimpianti produces Continuous or Oscillating Roller-Hearth Furnaces for the heat treatment of steel plates. Apart from annealing plants for normalizing, recrystallizing and spheroidizing, the range also includes quenching and tempering lines for the production of martensetic, intermediate and pearlitic structures.
Heat Treatment of Forged Components
Carbon steel can be hardened, or quenched and tempered, to reach the highest hardness and strength values. For these processes LOI Italimpianti supplies continuous furnaces like Pusher-Type Furnaces, Roller-Hearth Furnaces, Conveyor-type Furnaces, and Overhead Monorail Furnaces.
Steel Strip: LOI Italimpianti offers a broad range of annealing and galvanizing furnaces for steel strip based on in-house know-how and backed up by an extensive portfolio of reference plants.
Whether customers need bell-type furnaces for Hydrogen Batch Annealing (HPH), horizontal continuous galvanizing lines or solutions in special applications as annealing of grain oriented Si-Steel sheet, LOI Italimpianti is a reliable partner with comprehensive expertise in all aspects of steel strip annealing and galvanizing.
Horizontal Continuous Galvanizing Lines (HCGL)
LOI Italimpianti supplies Horizontal CGLs for the heat treatment and surface coating of steel strip. The annual capacity for a horizontal line is up to 500,000 t for a line. In these plants strip widths between 600 mm and 1,650 mm can be handled as well as strip thicknesses ranging from 0.15 mm to 4.5 mm.
Hydrogen Batch Annealing (HPH®)
LOI Italimpianti is the world leader in HPH® (High Performance Hydrogen) Bell-type Annealing Plants for the treatment of carbon steel (sheet and tinplate) and stainless steel sheet. More than 2,000 annealing bases in over 25 countries produce more than 35 million tones of steel strip each year.
Automotive:
LOI Italimpianti offers high performance continuous furnaces for the automotive industry and its sub-suppliers. Typical products are Rotary Hearth Furnaces with zone separation and Pusher Type Furnaces for gear parts and Roller Hearth Furnaces for cast and forged components but also Roller Hearth Furnaces for level wounded coils (LWC) of copper tubes.
Continuous Carburizing
LOI Italimpianti specializes in continuous heat treatment plants and processes with reactive gas atmospheres for mass production. The state-of-the-art Rotary Hearth Furnace with zone separation is at the forefront of furnace technology for the automotive industry and has been exclusively developed by LOI Italimpianti
Tube Bright Annealing
Pipes and bars made from steel and copper alloys are normally heated in Continuous Roller-Hearth Furnaces with controlled atmosphere. LOI Italimpianti Continuous Roller-Hearth Furnaces convince through high capacity, low maintenance requirements, and high availability.
Wire Coil Annealing
LOI Italimpianti offers the most important heat treatment systems for annealing wire like Bell-type Annealing systems, Continuous Roller Hearth Furnaces with a protective gas atmosphere as well as Multi Cycle Furnaces (MCF) which embody the Roller Hearth Technology with the flexibility of a Bell-type Annealing system.
Aluminium: LOI Italimpianti is among the leading suppliers of industrial furnaces for the aluminium industry. The process expertise available includes secondary melting and recycling furnaces for charge weights up to 120 t, continuous casters, dosing and casting machines and downstream plants such as aging furnaces for semi-finished and finished aluminium products.
Melting + Casting of Aluminium
From individual components up to the turn-key Aluminium Casting plants, LOI Italimpianti can offer everything including planning, engineering, installation, and commissioning.
Twin-Chamber Melting (TCF) of Aluminium Scrap
LOI Italimpiantis’ Twin-Chamber Melting Furnaces are used to recycle aluminium. The melting capacity of the furnaces ranges from 2.5 to 6.5 t/ h. The furnaces are characterized by low energy consumption and low burn-off losses.
Heat Treatment of Components and Coils
The heat treatment segment consists of age hardening furnaces (batch-type and continuous), annealing plants for aluminium coils, special plants for aerospace industry as well as elevated-temperature age hardening furnaces for extruded sections.
